Rescue Inc is named “Fitting Station of the Year”
by the Governors Highway Safety Program
On March 5th 2010 at the Child Passenger Safety Awards luncheon in Burlington, Vermont, Rescue Inc was awarded the top honor of Fitting Station of the Year. There are 28 fitting stations throughout the state of Vermont.
A car seat fitting station is a location for parents to bring their child seat and have it inspected by a certified car seat technician. Car seat technicians complete a minimum of 40 hours training to certify at the national level. This program is funded by the Governors Highway Safety Program (GHSP) and provides hands-on instruction and installation of child-safe car restraints.
In 2009, 257 seats were inspected at Rescue. Eighty-six percent were previously not installed properly and were reinstalled by a Rescue technician. Through sponsorship with GHSP, 42 seats were distributed to income eligible families and many more through the Windham County Safe Kids Coalition (WCSK).
Rescue Inc, along with the WCSK coalition, provides this service every Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., by appointment to ensure availability of a certified technician. If you would like to have a child car seat inspected by a Rescue certified technician, call Rescue Inc. at 802.257.7679 Ext. 104.
